Free At Noon ~ Sam Roberts

It’s a given that if something – especially music – comes from the Land Down Under, I will dig it. I hadn’t heard Sam Roberts before amelia and Jaylia requested this concert. Two and two are four. Now I dig Sam Roberts and you should, too. I’ll call these songs “acoustic-rock-a-rama-a-la-The Shins-meets-early-Wilco-while-at-an-antiwar-protest.”

1 ~ Bridge to Nowhere

2 ~ Brother Down

3 ~ Adelaide

4 ~ Mystified, Heavy

5 ~ Hard Road

6 ~ With A Bullet

7 ~ This Is How I Live

8 ~ Uprising Down Under

indeed mr. roberts is from that land slightly above ya. you know the place famous for being full of moose (though never having been there i do not understand why that particular hair product would be singled out amoungst others)i can see maybe your subliminal confusion based on the title of the final track here presented. Actually Sam roberts has been mentioned here before under the sports personalitys that sing since i believe he used to be a proffessional hocky player in a former life. anyway great stuff, though i'd like to say that as with the acoustic Damnwells sessions you so kindly posted before,(and unlike with most of the female songwriters you've feature, who positively shine in an acoustic setting,) this fine session is only an indication of the mans songwriting craft and as with the damnwells the full band sound is that much more than just this.
lovely post, thankyou your Dukeness you continue to be a, artist formily known as, amongst men

haha guys ..a) sam roberts is canadian ... b) that whole hockey star thing ..all B/S he was kidding when he wrote about all that stuff in his bands internet bio. He did in fact play the violin as a child and went to the acclaimed canadian university known as Mcgill in Montreal... glad you guys like his stuff, he is far to talented to stay out of mainstream for long
