7 from ’07 ~ Favorite So Far
As we kiss the first half of the year goodbye, I have decided to post seven tracks from my favorite seven releases thus far. This doesn’t mean I critically think they are THE BEST so far. Nor do I think they will be the greatest releases of the year. These are the seven releases (albums and EPs) I have enjoyed the most. A little reason why me likey is under the song.
7 Favorites thus far in beta-apha-cal order.
Devon Sproule ~ Keep Your Silver Shined (Keep You Silver Shined)
Devon deserves the moon, the stars and yet another go round on The Late Greats merry-go-round.
Pink Martini ~ Everywhere (Hey Eugene)
At first, I wasn’t captured by this release. As I learn the songs and can start to sing along, each listen brings me more and more happiness.
The Format ~ On Your Porch (Acoustic Version) (Snails EP)
More songs about love. More songs to enjoy.
Explosions In The Sky ~ The Birth and Death of The Day (All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone)
Instrumental music rarely holds my attention like EITS does.
CéU ~ Lenda (Céu)
There is not a bad song on this album. Fun stuff thru and thru.
Andrew Bird ~ Heretics (Armchair Apocrypha)
Great guitar-work. Great fiddle-work. Great singing. Just plain great.
The Avett Brothers ~ Go To Sleep (Emotionalism)
Folk-roots-rock-punk-banjo album of the year, hands down.
