Thanks for mentioning Iowa. I live right down the road from Greg Brown, and always like to hear what musical tastes in the area appeal to others. There are quite a few remarkable musicians and bands around the state.
Are you from Iowa originally?

There's also:
1) Tommy Bolin's brother, Jim, who plays drums for Black Oak Arkansas

2)Public Property, a great ska band out of Iowa City

3) The Law out of Des Moines, who's members included Tad Hutchinson (Young Fresh Fellows) and Charlie Chesterman (Scruffy the Cat and Charlie and Motorcycles)

4) Head Candy out of Iowa City

I could go on and on...

Yes! Envy Corps is really something special. They have a kinda British alt.pop-style sound. Smart, melodic, VERY well-produced...like a less-frantic Arcade Fire, a catchier Decemberists, a warmer New Order.
