Songs That Got Me Thru High School

Tom from bag of songs.

My high school years were ushered in alongside the rising tide of disco and and ended amidst the crashing surf of new wave and punk rock in spring of 1980. These were the years that I truly learned the power of music. It could bring people together, just as easily as separate them, but it also had the amazing ability to transport you to another place where all the anxiety, stress and pressure did not exist.
What is now for the most part deemed classic rock, which was reflective of FM radio at the time, pretty much dominated my listening in high school, while unbeknownst to me the college radio and punk rock that would rule my post high school years was happening in parallel. Here's some of the songs that spent tons of time on the turntable. There were no CDs in my high school years, just one side of vinyl at a time.
Boston's debut album EVERYONE owned this and I wore the grooves out on mine
Boston - Hitch A Ride
Between Fleetwood Mac, Rumours, and Tusk they pretty much soundtracked the whole four years from beginning to end.
Fleetwood Mac - Over My Head
Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon - Discovering this album was like suddenly finding the key to the universe. Kick back and pop it on real loud with a pair of headphones and soon everything else was worlds away. Although I don't find myself listening to it very ofetn anymore this still remains one of my all time favorite albums.
Pink Floyd - Brain Damage
Led Zeppelin - my favorite band all through high school practically an obsession.
Led Zeppelin - The Battle Of Evermore
Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell - This album summarized the teenage angst and emotion that runs rampant through the high school experience. Smack dab in the middle of my high school years it still conjures up memories of those days. Recommend song: Paradise By The Dashboard Light
Bruce Springsteen - Darkness On The Edge Of Town - a much darker version of the ansgt and emotion and all about breaking away from it.
Bruce Springsteen - Candy's Room - Who didn't want to be Candy's boy after hearing this
The Rolling Stones - Shattered - A theme song of sorts, I'll leave it at that.
All sounds that would soon stand alongside bands like U2, The Clash, Joy Division, Gang Of Four, REM, The Psychedelic Furs, The Jam, and many more that would soundtrack my college years.

What's your draw to nostalgia? I'm most interested in your posts which are imaginative...
I guess, it like these series/nostalgia posts because they help get to know me/you better. We are a product of our experiences. No now without the past. Or something like that.
The Duke
PS ~ Will try to keep those imaginative posts coming...
Metallica- The God That Failed
Faith No More- Everything's Ruined
Nirvana- Something In The Way
(I really didn't have anything terrible going on, but my song's would suggest otherwise. I was a melodramatic teen, I guess.)
i was raised conservative christian, so mostly the music i listened to in high school was embarrassing, but toward the end, i had some love affairs with Portishead & Ben Folds Five. Specifically "Mysterons" & "Wandering Star" for Portishead, and "The Battle of Who Could Care Less" by Ben Folds Five.
also "Readymade" & "The New Pollution" by Beck.
