My Favorite Song This Week

I first blogged about Dan Israel here, in a short-lived series called “Underappreciated Artists”. He is a singer-songwriting based out of the Twin Cities. He has a smoky baritone that reminds me a bit of Greg Brown, Tom Waits with a side order of Desire-era Dylan.

Dan is celebrating the release of a super new album titled Turning. In fact there is a CD release party on Friday, Oct. 26 at the Varsity Theater in Dinkytown, 1308 4th Street SE in Minneapolis, ph. 612-604-0222, doors at 8 pm, music at 9 pm, Dan and the Cultivators (with numerous special guests) perform at 11 pm.
I’m hoping with this post, and a little legwork from y’all we can get the word out about this gem of a performer.
