While You Listened To That New Radiohead, The Duchess And I Watched Pushing Daises (AND Get Ready For A New Contest Announcement)

It’s no surprise that The Duke is a Bob Dylan fan. If you go here, you can read all the times I mention Mr. Zimmerman. Hence, time to run a Dylan contest commemorating the release of his retrospective called “Dylan”. It is available in three configurations:

1. Deluxe Collector’s Three CD Box Set (Buy)

2. Three CD 8-panel Digipak (Buy)

3. Single Disc Select Song Overview (Buy)

Here is what you can win…

One Grand Prize:
Bob Dylan iPod case
Dylan Poster
The Single Disc Select Song Overview

Two Runner Ups:
Dylan Poster
The Single Disc Select Song Overview

To enter the contest, simply leave a hullabaloo with your name and a valid email address. Or email me with the same info. If you feel like mentioning your favorite Dylan period (i.e. the Post-Motorcycle Accident Woodstock/Basement Tapes Era or Early Village Coffeehouse Days), The Duke would like to know. But not required to win. The three winners will be chosen at random.

The contest will run from Today until Next Thursday (10/18) @ 11:59PM.

Need a reason to enter: listen to a Podcast that is hosted by Patti Smith.

This Recording continues with its Adolescence series. (Did you read my contribution yet?)

Dylan...how about Basement Tapes...that's certainly where it's at. What went on that summer? What were they thinking? How great is the whole 5 disc set?

i do so love me a contest.

As opposed to favorite period, i'm going w/ favorite album. Hands down, his first one, "Bob Dylan."

Don't really have a favorite period (least favorite Dylan period: between Desire and Time Out Of Mind). Absolutely love The Bootleg Series Vol. 4-7.

I want to win your Dylan contest. I can't say I know Dylan all that well. I need some motivation, and winning a Dylan contest should do it.

I'd have to say my favorite Dylan period was his late -early stuff. When he was still doing mostly guitar and voice, but the new ideas were coming out and he was really getting a good grasp on his writing style. Also, I love One More Cup of Coffee.

Favorite Dylan? Probably the three tracks on the soundtrack to Wonder Boys -- "Things Have Changed" (reminds me of early Dylan), "Shooting Star" (one of the best of the middle period) and "Not Dark Yet" (best of later Dylan). The other tracks on the soundtrack aren't bad, either.

My husband is huge Dylan fan. We saw him this summer at Red Rocks.

My favorite is that he was part of the Travelling Wilburys.

I would love to win your contest!

Really hard to pick a favorite era from a guy so prolific over such a long time, but if you're going to force me, I'll pick the mid-70's era including "Blood On The Tracks" and "Desire" & "Street Legal". His XM Radio show is excellent by the way. If you haven't listened, by all means do.
