A Beta-Alpha-Cal Glance At My Ten Desert Island Albums v10.0
I can’t believe this ten week odyssey is over.
We end with Greg Brown and Bill Morrissey. And I suppose if you want to be a stickler, this album should have been sooner in the Beta-Alpha-Cal countdown. As it is technically a Bill Morrissey & Greg Brown album. But I keep it in my collection with the rest of the Greg Brown albums. I consider it a Greg Brown album
The concept for this album was two friends sharing songs they loved. Classics, traditionals, old folk tunes. Twelve songs, all great.
There is a story behind me and this album. I was on my way home (to Winona) from my summer home (Madeline Island) and crashed my Dodge Charger into a mailbox. I had this CD in my car to take home for my dad to listen to (he is also a Greg Brown fan). Long story longer, I ended up playing the album for the woman who let me stay at her place while my car was in the shop. The “title track” came on, where Greg and Bill sing about their friend “dying on the road”.
My lady friend started crying, as I nearly died on the road the day before. The good news is I didn’t die. The bad news, that friend and I only send Xmas cards now. Whenever I listen to this album, I miss her. Velena, this one is for you. Thanks for letting me crash on your couch.

The Duke
Today's album, I would include. I like it a lot and I've told you before that I am the world's biggest waifs fan. I would have to have a Van album, a Dylan album, a Joni album and an Ella album included.
