5 hullabaloos:
I'm posting one by Sonny Rollins tomorrow. Part of a jazz Christmas.
My favorite has to be Dean Martin...his whole Christmas CD is excellent...thanks for the song...I'm going to dig it out now!! You have to listen to his Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer song...ah Rudy :D
Merry Christmas
Where's the Ray Charles version? Sweetly jumping along with a Fender Rhodes tone. I admittedly only heard it first in the end credits to "Elf", and it may be the first Christmas song I've ever heard that prompted me to go buy an artist entire Xmas album! (And I generally hate that stuff...)
Dean Martin is awesome, as usual.
One of my favorite versions is by Darlene Love. Also, the Phantom Planet version is pretty great.
Good to see your post about "Winter Wonderland" and the version by Steve Goodman. He often doesn't get his due. You might be interested in an eight-year project of mine that has come to fruition -- an 800-page biography of Goodman published in May, "Steve Goodman: Facing the Music." Of course, I would choose Goodman's delightfully improvised version of the song. Please check my Internet site below for more info on the book. Just trying to spread the word. Feel free to do the same!
