My Favorite Song This Week
I had every intention to post this song tomorrow for the Commercial Thursday post, but after downloading the song from eMusic, it got stuck in my head. It became the most played song this week. Not to mention, I learned how to play it on the mandolin (yep, Joe, I said mandolin).
Upon further study of Joe Purdy, turns out he is often used on the TV, whether commercials or as background for TV shows (specifically on ABC). After Hype Machining him, I was surprised to see very little exposure in the music blog-o-web. Joe’s music is a little bit Counting Crows, a little bit Ben Harper and a little bit Uncle Tupelo.
He is also a snappy dresser.

hey, where did you find out how to play the song? i can't figure it out by ear cause i'm actually rather new to the mandolin but i've been trying to teach myself and joe purdy is one of my favorite artists

That is not Joe Purdy's song 'The City' but rather The Avett Brothers' song 'Murder in the City'. Just thought you should know so as to avoid confusion in the future.
