Instrumental Thursdays ∞ Ahn Trio

The Sisters Ahn were born in Korean and played their ways through Julliard. Lucia (piano), Angella (violin) and Maria (cello) are taking the usual piano-trio lineup and spicing it up. Sexing it up.

Their new album hits shelves April 1st. It has a provocative title: Lullaby For My Favorite Insomniac. The music is a mix of classic classical, stunning standards and some music specially commissioned by the sisters written by award winning composer Kenji Bunch.

In many ways, it plays like a soundtrack to a movie you haven’t seen yet. (Maybe that’s because they include a couple Michael Nyman compositions.)
