Guilty Pleasures For Humpday ∞ Sweet Sweet Melody

Melody Gardot celebrated April Fools day with the broadcast of her World Café performance (listen here). She is from Philly and has become quite the local legend.

I first heard her on Sirius Coffeehouse. They have been playing her song “Sweet Memory” for quite sometime. Vin Scelsa is quite fond of her song “Love Me Like A River Does”, with good reason.

Melody was an “indie” jazz singer who got her debut album picked up by Verve. Not bad, eh? She is an artist on the rise. If I had made a list of artists to keep an ear out for in 2008, she would have made the cut.

You can get her album for $5.99 from Amazon (see mp3 links below). The best six bucks you’ll spend all year.
