the love and rockets song sure does stand as one of my favorites, as perhaps Rider by The Jesus & Mary Chain...nice post!
Mary Lou Lord does two great Motorcycle songs live -- the Richard Thompson one (that you've got Greg Brown covering above) and Daniel Johnston's Speeding Motorcycle.
The Mammals do a good 1952, too -- I put it up last week over at Cover Lay Down, for comparison. But my favorite cover of 1952 VBL, or indeed any Motorcycle song, is probably the Del McCoury version...
My fave is "Muthafukka on a Motorcycle" by Machine Gun Fellatio. I also like Motorcycle's "When The Rush Comes", but don't think that counts.
