My Favorite Song This Week

If you have been reading The Late Greats for a while, you probably know I LOVE Gillian Welch. Until Gillian releases some new material, Jenny Scheinman will have to do.
The first time I heard the song below, I thought it was new Gillian. So I downloaded the whole album from eMusic. And it has been stuck on repeat ever since.

Jenny has a history as being a sought-after studio violinist. In 2008, she released TWO albums at the same time, almost like Guns N Roses. One is made up of jazzy instrumentals; the other is her first foray into singing. And her voice reminds me of Welch’s.
