Album Review ∞ Alejandro Escovedo: Real Animal

I got this album in the mail months ago. I wasn’t planning on blogging about it because Alejandro gets plenty of exposure on the music blogs, hence he isn’t really Late Greats material. But, last Wednesday, Vin Scelsa played the song below and I said to myself, I have to blog this song. A wonderful song. I love the production. I love the overall “sound” of the song. The backup vocals. The strings. Everything about it, I love.

As for the rest of the album, image Tom Petty playing with Crazy Horse with the ghost of Roy Orbison lurking in the background. (And a few other Traveling Wilburys popping up from time to time.)

I gave it the “Brand New Nostalgia” rating because it has a retro-vibe going for it. A real ole time rock-n-roll flair.
